Arthur McEvoy Delaney was born in Manchester, his family were theatre people. His mother was a dancer and his father was the well known comedian Frank Randle. At 13 years of age he joined a textile design studio where he worked for the next 32 years. He started to paint as a means of relaxation. L.S. Lowry and Manchester of the 1930's were great influences in his life, particularly the smoke laden skys and the numerous tramcars. In 1974 he had a very successful one man show at the Tib Lane Gallery in Manchester. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy.
