Nikki Morris Lives in Hoyland South Yorkshire and is a self taught artist who has painted for most of her life. She has produced works on a huge variety of subjects from Burlesque and Surrealism to Dog Portraits and Alice in Wonderland.
At college she studied Industrial Design. She has worked throughout the UK as a teacher of both Art and Design. She has worked with many social groups from college students, adult learners, homeless people, people with mental health difficulties/dementia and children - in both studio and residential settings. Her first solo exhibition was in 2009 at The Hive Gallery, sadly now closed.
She has also exhibited locally through the Cooper Gallery in Barnsley. Here she undertook a wide variety of projects and painted numerous types of subject matter. Her work was extensively collected by patrons of the gallery and this lead to her selling many commission pieces to customers all over the world.
She has recently developed a burning passion for Northern Soul Music - its dancing, the people, the clothes etc etc and since June 2015 this has become a priority for her.
All of her paintings are original concepts, inspired by the music, the books, the video footage, the venues that she visits, the people she meets and the blogs that she reads.
We think that Nikki's work is fantastic, capturing perfectly everything that is great about Northern Soul and the people who still love it and continue to enjoy it. Her work is now very much appreciated and is becoming very very collectable.
