He was born in Wigan but now lives and works in West Kirby on the Wirral. He trained at the Chester School of Art and the Liverpool College of Art where he gained an art teachers dipolma. He paints mainly landscapes or still life and works outside whenever possible, usually using mainly watercolour, which he feels is the most convenient medium for this type of work. He is a member of the Pastel Society, the National Acrylic Painters' Assocciation, and the Wirral Society of Arts. He has featured in several exhibtions including the Grosvenor Museum and Art Gallery in Chester (2007) and the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum in Birkenhead (2004).
