He was born in Manchester and studied painting at St Martin's College of Art from 1962 to 1967 under Reynolds, Kossoff and Gore. At college he was gained a National Diploma in Art and Design and in 1966 he was awarded the David Murray Scholarship by the Royal Academy for landscape painting.
After college he returned to the North, where he became a professional artist, he based himself in Saddleworth.
His work is in both public and private collections all over the world including The Manchester City Art Gallery.
He exhibits mostly in Manchester and London and has his own studio and gallery in Delph, Oldham, Lancashire.
